About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide medical treatment for Pogo Mine employees, contractors, and visitors
- Arrange transportation off site for ill or seriously injured people
- Advise employees on health and safety concerns
- Administer occupational medicine surveillance programs, including drug and alcohol testing, employment physicals, and lead, cadmium, respiratory, and hearing tests
- Order laboratory tests, obtain samples, interpret results, and maintain records
- Operate the medical treatment facility and provide routine clinic care
- Remain on call 24 hours per day for emergencies
- Assess patients through interviews, physical examinations, and medical-history review
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies
- Document patient care in patient and department records
- Perform injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound and infection management
- Counsel patients on therapeutic regimens, wellness, and health maintenance
- Maintain safe and clean clinical environments and follow infection-control protocols
- Maintain surveillance, clinical visit, accident, and illness records
- Collect and send drug and alcohol testing samples and maintain chain-of-custody records
- Maintain appropriate medical supply levels
- Conduct first-aid and health training for MSHA annual refresher training
- Support Pogo Mine Emergency Response Teams and develop trained emergency responders
- Assist with Workers’ Compensation correspondence and claims handling
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited PA Program
- Current Alaska PA License and NCCPA Certification, or Licensed Nurse Practitioner
- Five or more years of experience providing emergency medical care as a PA in a high-volume acute care setting
- Two or more years working in a remote industrial environment
- Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications
- Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support Certification
- Nationally Registry EMS Certification
- Knowledge of MSHA Yellow Jacket standards and regulations
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional clinical judgment for critical patient care and transport decisions in remote and extreme conditions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Amazing Charts
- Ability to provide leadership and mentorship to EMS Team members
- Ability to work a 22-days-on, 20-days-off schedule of 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite
- Employees must stay on site at the company-provided camp during the work rotation
