About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the company’s payroll process from start to finish, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
- Review payroll data, timesheets, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and other information for accuracy
- Process regular payroll runs and meet all payroll deadlines
- Handle payroll adjustments, corrections, new hires, terminations, and other employee changes
- Monitor payroll records and investigate discrepancies or issues
- Ensure payroll practices follow applicable federal, state, and local requirements
- Prepare payroll reports and provide accurate information to management and finance
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to keep employee and payroll information up to date
- Respond to employee questions about pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll-related matters
- Maintain accurate payroll records and protect sensitive employee information
- Assist with payroll tax filings, audits, reconciliations, and year-end reporting
- Improve payroll processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency
- Stay current with payroll regulations, tax requirements, and best practices
- Handle other payroll and administrative responsibilities as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience in payroll, with experience managing or overseeing payroll processes
- Strong understanding of payroll procedures, taxes, deductions, and compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll software and HR or accounting systems
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to identify problems, investigate discrepancies, and find practical solutions
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential employee and financial information with discretion
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple deadlines in a remote environment
- Experience with multi-state payroll is a plus
- Payroll certification or a degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field is a plus
