About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement and maintain the smooth operation and physical design of databases
  • Ensure reliable database performance and availability
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases to optimize efficiency and responsiveness
  • Review database design and integration of systems
  • Provide backup and recovery support
  • Recommend database enhancements and improvements
  • Maintain security and integrity controls for data and database environments
  • Formulate and enforce database management policies, procedures, and standards
  • Monitor transaction activity and utilization for effective resource usage and system stability
  • Develop stored procedures and/or triggers as needed to support application and system requirements
  • Join Northrop Grumman’s Product Support organization within the Aeronautics Systems Sector

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Be completing or has completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by December 2026 for Associate Database Administrator (Level 1)
  • Be completing or has completed a Master’s degree from an accredited institution by December 2026, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of related experience by December 2026 for Database Administrator (Level 2)
  • Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics or similar degree
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time
  • U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite
  • Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance preferred
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher preferred
  • Previous internship/co-op or other work experience preferred
  • Leadership, teamwork, interpersonal communication skills, and professional/community/extracurricular activities preferred
  • Experience administering Oracle databases, including PL/SQL, installation, configuration, and upgrades preferred
  • Experience with Oracle in Windows environments preferred
  • Experience with MS Access-based applications and VBA preferred
  • Experience with the Sunflower Asset Management Database preferred
  • Familiarity with Python, PERL, and/or Java preferred
  • Current Security+ certification preferred
