About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide timely responses to shop-floor assistance calls
  • Collaborate with technicians on the shop floor
  • Read, interpret, and author specification changes
  • Author PowerPoint presentations and Excel data tabulations
  • Assist and guide technicians with task setup and required processes
  • Write test plans and collaborate with internal and external test laboratories
  • Expedite test-data turnaround
  • Research and develop materials and related application processes for engineering design and application in structures, systems, and subsystems
  • Apply chemistry, physics, and materials-science principles to investigate material issues and provide solutions
  • Support manned and unmanned aircraft platforms through the Vehicle Engineering group

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completing or completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by December 2026 for Level 1
  • Major in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or similar STEM degree
  • Completing or completed a Master’s degree by December 2027, or completing a Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of Aeronautical engineering or similar engineering experience by December 2026 for Level 2
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access
  • U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite
  • Final approved U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access may be required to start
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher preferred
  • Experience with military or commercial aircraft, parts, and assemblies preferred
  • Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports preferred
  • Familiarity with ASTM test procedures preferred
  • Experience with thermal, optical, rheology, and mechanical lab testing preferred
  • Familiarity with DSC, FTIR, TGA, photomicrography, rheometer, and load-frame operation preferred
  • Familiarity with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, sealants, coatings, adhesive materials, aircraft composite fabrication/assembly/repair processes, and metallic materials/processes preferred
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License preferred
  • Willingness and ability to work on the shop floor, in confined spaces, and from elevated platforms
  • Ability to lift objects, kneel, climb ladders, and crawl through confined spaces
  • Ability to work a 4/10 Monday–Thursday second-shift night schedule or first-shift day schedule
