About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Estimate manufacturing labor costs based on customer requests for proposals (RFPs)
- Analyze specifications, sketches, blueprints, bills of material, and sample layouts
- Develop compliant Basis of Estimates (BOEs) in the BOE tool
- Perform estimating and analysis according to industry best practices, solicitation and customer requirements, FAR, DFARS, and company procedures
- Prepare and maintain historical labor data
- Develop models and analyze existing and new factors for estimating approaches
- Communicate estimates, technical approaches, findings, and recommendations to management and executives
- Prepare reports and present findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, and customer representatives
- Support pre-award and post-award estimating activities
- Develop solutions to sophisticated estimating problems using available data and resourcefulness
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree (Level 2)
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience (Level 3)
- Aerospace/defense industry and business management experience
- Working knowledge of the government contract environment, including FAR and DFARS
- Experience developing compliant BOEs (Basis of Estimates)
- Experience with Excel
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
- Ability to work on site in Rancho Bernardo or El Segundo, California
- Preferred: active US Government Secret Clearance and active Special Program Access
- Preferred: knowledge of aerospace production operation functions, tasks, and processes
- Preferred: experience in pricing, finance, contracts, business and/or business operations
- Preferred: experience with proposals of varying contract types, such as FFP, FPIF, and CPIF
- Preferred: familiarity with Northrop Grumman procedures
- Preferred: experience with Least Square Regression, Pivot Table Analysis, Improvement Curves, and advanced formulas
- Preferred: operations touch labor improvement curve theory and modeling
- Preferred: strong presentation skills and experience communicating technical and theoretical analysis
- Preferred: experience supporting negotiations
- Preferred: intermediate Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel
- Preferred: in-depth understanding of Manufacturing and Support Labor and their interaction
- U.S. Citizenship required for positions with government clearance and certain restricted positions
