About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with architecting, manufacturing, testing, and mission control operation of power generation, storage, and distribution systems
- Support commercial communication, science/exploration, and crewed spacecraft missions
- Responsible for technical, cost, and schedule performance of the space vehicle electrical power subsystem
- Apply electrical engineering principles to adapt or improve heritage design features
- Prepare and present analysis material for design reviews and major customer meetings
- Analyze and architect spacecraft power avionics, batteries, and solar arrays
- Provide subcontractor technical and project management oversight
- Perform technical trades
- Support development and testing during Integration & Test
- Support post-launch mission operations
- Perform voltage drop, energy balance, fuse sizing, transient, and equipment degradation analyses
- Generate, decompose, and manage subsystem requirements
- Analyze on-ground failures and in-orbit anomalies
- Perform earned value reporting for the cost account
- Work a 9/80 schedule with some night/weekend shifts and periodic domestic and international travel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 months of professional experience
- No clearance required to start
- Solid background and understanding of electrical engineering
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Broad technical expertise and working knowledge of other related disciplines
- Self-starter able to drive and see items through to closure within desired need dates
- Basic working knowledge of spacecraft power subsystems (preferred)
- Basic understanding of systems engineering principles (preferred)
- Familiarity with spaceflight electronics development (preferred)
- Some previous experience or rudimentary knowledge of Li-ion batteries, solar arrays, power regulation and conditioning circuitry, electrical testing, manufacturing processes, and human factors design
- Ability to work some night/weekend shifts
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally periodically
- U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
