About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a department within the Systems Engineering organization and report to the SDS Systems Engineering Director
- Set operating objectives and mentor Functional Home Room Section Managers
- Provide oversight and assistance to multiple business areas across Sentinel/GBSD, ICBM Sustainment, and Advanced Programs
- Manage planning, risk, project performance, schedule, technical quality, and technical or operational problems
- Assist engineers and program staff with talent development
- Maintain and exceed health and performance across programs through frequent contact with equivalent-level managers and programs
- Lead engineers across Launch Systems, Facility Infrastructure, and ICBM Sustainment disciplines
- Own the people, processes, and tools supporting business areas and programs
- Recruit, staff, and retain talent
- Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup, audits, and special assignments
- Lead improvements in employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention
- Mentor, develop, and train section managers and employees
- Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 8 years of related experience or Master's Degree and 6 years of related experience
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
- Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and Special Program Access
- Experience in requirements development/management using DOORS or similar tool
- Experience in model development/management using CAMEO or similar tool
- Experience in Model Based System Engineering with an understanding of DODAF and SysML
- Master's Degree with 9 years of STEM experience, preferably Engineering, is nice to have
- Minimum of 3 years in a formal management position is nice to have
- Experience across engineering disciplines is nice to have
- Experience with mechanical systems and/or physical infrastructure is nice to have
- Experience on ICBMs is nice to have
- Experience creating or growing new sections or departments is nice to have
- Experience managing an engineering team is nice to have
- Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira is nice to have
- Active TS Clearance and Program Access is nice to have
