About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the sector-level Technical Advisor for Space Global Trade under the direction of the Director of Global Trade
  • Lead company-wide Technical Advisor activities, including training and representation at biannual Tech Fests
  • Propose, evaluate, and assess Technical Advisor candidates across engineering disciplines and divisions
  • Maintain cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Corporate, and other functional organizations
  • Lead and mentor the Space Technical Advisor community of over 100 trained advisors
  • Provide one-on-one guidance, regular team communications, and lunch-and-learn opportunities
  • Translate export regulatory requirements into embedded systems-engineering processes and procedures
  • Conduct jurisdiction and classification determinations for sector hardware, software, and technology
  • Support application and implementation of U.S. Government export authorizations and export-compliance processes
  • Establish and serve as a subject-matter expert for sector export policies and procedures
  • Train personnel on export regulations, hardware jurisdiction and classification, technical-data evaluations, public-release evaluations, and NGC’s EEMS export database
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Space Technical Advisors and conduct quarterly refresher training
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of technical-data reviews within the sector
  • Support Global Trade Empowered Officials and the Law Department regarding potential non-compliance incidents
  • Provide classification, scope development, and proviso/condition analysis for export authorizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience OR PhD with 8 years of professional experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge and fluency of ITAR, EAR, and other US Government Regulations as pertaining to export/import licensing and Global Trade
  • Experience providing training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced engineering or science degree preferred
  • Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry preferred
  • Knowledge of Space-related products, systems, and sub-systems, including spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground and missiles systems, propulsion, laser, imaging, optics, and microelectronics preferred
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of the Decartes EEMS Software preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication preferred
  • Current, active US Government Secret Security Clearance preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
