About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a team of Global Trade professionals
  • Serve as Empowered Official for transactional compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations, license and agreement preparation and processing, and use of exemptions and exceptions
  • Prepare export authorization application packages when required
  • Drive accountability through metrics
  • Provide advice, guidance, training, and authorization strategy concerning U.S. export regulations
  • Provide day-to-day people and subject matter leadership and accelerate talent development
  • Monitor changing export control laws and regulations and analyze their applicability and impact
  • Provide global trade training and awareness to internal and external customers
  • Investigate and support disclosure of potential non-compliance and develop and implement corrective actions with the Law Department
  • Engage with internal Technical Advisors and approve Jurisdiction and Classification reviews for the business unit
  • Establish relationships with Business Development, Contracts, Global Supply Chain, Programs, and other internal collaborators
  • Lead initiatives involving development, automation, and continuous improvement of Global Trade processes and tools
  • Maintain trade compliance records according to regulatory and company requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 12+ years of international trade compliance (export, import and/or customs) experience, OR bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8+ years of international trade compliance experience, OR master's degree with a minimum of 6+ years of international trade compliance experience
  • Proficiency in ITAR and EAR, including making jurisdiction and classification determinations
  • Experience applying U.S. Government regulatory requirements in complex scenarios and analyzing and solving complex problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving priorities, manage multiple projects while meeting schedule and quality requirements, and exercise judgment about when to escalate potential conflicts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, up to 10% of the time
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience as an Empowered Official
  • Preferred: Experience with OCR's EASE software
  • Preferred: Experience in Direct Commercial Sale and Foreign Military Sales export requirements
  • Preferred: Experience with USML Category IV and XII and related ECCNs
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Technology Security and Foreign Disclosure (TSFD) process
