About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary point of contact for program operations needs supporting a set of programs
- Lead a team of Operations Program Managers for a subset of the Utah portfolio
- Support the stand-up of the OPM functional organization in the Propulsion Systems Business Unit
- Align regional OPM operations execution across Central Region sites with Space Sector M&O guidelines
- Lead manufacturing teams to improve operational efficiency and define end-to-end manufacturing, integration, test and facilities strategies
- Manage risk assessments and mitigation, compliance and performance standards
- Drive improvement, streamlining, development and operational initiatives
- Monitor operational goals and leadership objectives and eliminate non-value-added activities
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality standards
- Plan and control projects, manage scope and change control, and escalate issues
- Collaborate across sites, business units and regions using lessons learned and best practices
- Develop and maintain leadership teams across Utah sites
- Interface with Program Office, Business Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Mission Assurance
- Collaborate with programs, security, business development, strategy and other organizations
- Manage proposals, production planning and manufacturing program execution
- Monitor and address cost, schedule, performance and quality issues
- Provide oversight and accountability for OPM activities and compliance
- Manage financial and budgetary aspects of the organization
- Ensure adequate department staffing
- Lead employee development, performance management and engagement activities
- Own manufacturing execution finance, strategic execution, planning and proposals, schedule and performance, risk and issue management, and stakeholder leadership of IPTs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing, engineering, operations or program environment, OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing, engineering, operations or program environment
- 2+ years’ experience leading tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving requirements as a Program/Project Manager, Integrated Program Lead (IPT) or Cost Account Manager (CAM)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
- Working knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (ESI, Solumina, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems
- Experience developing proposals and managing program execution, including creating, tracking and meeting schedules
- Working knowledge of financial management, including projects, process control and budgets
- Experience managing teams with various focus areas
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong people leadership, collaboration, multitasking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function independently, meet deadlines and achieve commitments
- Preferred: Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a STEM-related discipline or MBA
- Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Preferred: Progressive leadership experience in manufacturing/production, operations, program management or related areas
- Preferred: Background in manufacturing and engineering processes, technologies and programs
- Preferred: Experience in proposals, business development, acquisitions and customer interactions
- Preferred: Product transition from development to production methodology and implementation
- Preferred: Knowledge and experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- Preferred: Experience supporting cross-sector initiatives and/or programs
- Preferred: Experience crossing organizational, site and sector boundaries and consolidating or transferring manufacturing operations
- Preferred: Experience with continuous improvement and problem-solving tools and techniques
- U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
