About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform static and dynamic structural analysis
  • Review requirements for materials, structural systems, and subsystems
  • Select appropriate technical information and data from applicable products
  • Determine technical principles, design paths, and engineering characteristics for space applications
  • Release results as technical documents after review by senior team members
  • Develop innovative solutions and elaborate on design concepts
  • Evaluate completed designs with supervisors and other technical groups
  • Modify designs as necessary to meet specifications and requirements
  • Assist experienced mechanical engineers with mechanical and structural analysis on spacecraft systems or subsystems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related area and 2+ years of experience, or a Master's Degree for Mechanical/Structural Engineer 2
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related area and 5+ years of experience, Master's Degree and 3+ years, or a PhD for Mechanical/Structural Engineer 3
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to perform structural engineering tasks associated with analysis, design, and/or testing of structures
  • Experience with at least one mechanical analysis tool: NX FEMAP/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or HYPERMESH
  • Equivalent spacecraft structural analysis tools may be considered case by case
  • Experience with spacecraft or subsystem static/dynamic testing preferred
  • Experience utilizing MATLAB preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
