About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify and assess obsolete or DMS-listed components
  • Develop mitigation strategies including part substitution, redesign, last-time-buy, or engineering change request
  • Maintain an up-to-date obsolescence database and generate regular risk reports
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify military-specification parts
  • Ensure mil-spec parts meet applicable standards such as MIL-PRF-38534 and MIL-STD-810
  • Review engineering drawings, schematics, and Technical Data Packages to extract component requirements
  • Perform schematic capture, simulation, and analysis of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits
  • Create and update Bills of Materials and component specification sheets
  • Verify purchased parts match engineering intent and design constraints
  • Help maintain accurate configuration records in the PLM system
  • Work as part of the Systems Engineering Team within Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Mission Solutions organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Principal level: Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience with B.S. degree; 3 years with Master’s degree; or 1 year with PhD
  • Senior Principal level: Minimum of 8 years of direct relevant experience with B.S. degree; 6 years with Master’s degree; or 4 years with PhD
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent STEM-related discipline
  • Proven experience handling obsolete parts and implementing DMS part resolution strategies
  • Strong knowledge of mil-spec parts and relevant military standards
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and Technical Data Packages
  • Experience performing circuit analysis, simulation, and prototype development
  • Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Familiarity with PLM/BOM tools
  • Ability to work independently or in a cross-functional team
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret-level security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance
  • Preferred: Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or other Siemens PLM
  • Preferred: Advanced proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence, or LTspice
  • Preferred: Hands-on component testing and qualification experience
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Accuris or SiliconExpert
  • Preferred: DMSMS reporting experience
  • Preferred: Current Secret clearance or higher
