About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research, design, develop, integrate, and test electronic equipment including power generation, communications, flight controls, networks, radar, navigation, and weapons systems
  • Maintain complex circuitry components, analog and digital computers, and LRU/SRUs
  • Research and develop sustainment solutions and new technologies for avionics equipment and components
  • Implement identified technical solutions
  • Coordinate internally across functions and oversee technical suppliers and supporting engineers
  • Report technical status, challenges, impacts, and mitigations to Chief Engineers, EI&E Directors, and Program Management
  • Serve as Responsible Engineer, supplier technical interface, and focal Avionics representative for integration support
  • Oversee and mentor responsible and lower-level engineers
  • Monitor development, sustainment, hardware design, qualification, integration, and verification/validation activities
  • Provide technical status and assessments to program leadership and customers
  • Assess cost and schedule impacts of technical decisions
  • Ensure adherence to processes, best practices, policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Coordinate execution of program statement of work and technical requirements
  • Coordinate with the Technical Review Board on change packages
  • Support technical interchange meetings and program reviews
  • Assist with resolving technical program engineering challenges
  • Coordinate across programs and functions for operational efficiencies
  • Analyze complex problems and develop solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of electronics systems
  • Knowledge and experience with qualification and environmental testing required for flight equipment
  • Familiarity with Nuclear, EMI, Reliability and Logistics technical disciplines
  • Airborne platform integration requirements experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time
  • Strong understanding of nuclear and radiation hardening requirements and testing
  • Experience with LabView or other data collection and electronic modeling tools
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value and exposure to Cost Account Management principles
  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
