About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work alongside maintenance and operations teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation
  • Lead by example regarding safety, reliability, quality, costs, process improvement, and project management
  • Manage and ensure optimum performance of Level 2 automation systems and equipment
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot and implement system interfaces using computer communication protocols
  • Analyze and solve process problems by understanding Level 2 technology and the sheet steel making process
  • Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in industrial process control/automation within the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times
  • Familiarity with level 2 automation systems and applications running on physical and virtual machines
  • Working knowledge of computer communication protocols to troubleshoot and implement system interfaces
  • Willingness and ability to learn the sheet steel making process
  • Industrial process control/automation equipment upgrade experience
  • Experience working in a heavy industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of computer administration, such as Windows Server OS
  • Working knowledge of virtual machines, such as VMware
  • Experience working on Level 2 automation control systems, including databases, setup models, C/C++/C# applications, and front-end and back-end web development
  • Experience building, maintaining, and utilizing databases, such as SQL
  • Working knowledge and experience with networking and communication technologies, such as Ethernet, fiber, switching, and routing
  • Experience with communication protocols, such as Profinet, TCP/IP, and UDP
  • Experience using data analysis to identify process or equipment issues and develop solutions
