About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide enterprise-wide technical leadership for the NuScale Power Module (NPM)
  • Oversee analytical foundations, design basis development, and cross-disciplinary technical integration
  • Define strategy, set technical direction, and ensure engineering rigor across analytical methods
  • Lead reactor transient analysis and ensure methods and results support sound engineering decisions
  • Lead heat exchanger design activities and reviews, including integration with turbine vendors
  • Direct reactor coolant system (RCS) design approach, standards, and technical integration
  • Lead flow-induced vibration assessments and define mitigations based on validated analyses
  • Establish and apply advanced analysis techniques, including CFD, to develop evidence-based design solutions
  • Review plant technology readiness and technical risks and ensure risk-reduction plans are in place
  • Chair and/or participate in design reviews
  • Provide independent expert technical reviews on key work products
  • Develop and oversee engineering programs within domain expertise
  • Provide mentoring and training in areas of expertise
  • Remain informed of developing engineering technologies and techniques and identify opportunities to improve technology
  • Create formal networks and serve as an internal and/or external spokesperson regarding technology
  • Assist business development personnel in client contacts to demonstrate the company’s design
  • Report to the VP, Engineering
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a Masters degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required; Doctorate preferred
  • 10 years of experience with a PhD, or 15 years of experience with a Masters
  • Experience in nuclear related engineering activities with progressively increasing technology leadership roles required
  • Broad background including safety analyses and testing experience required
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
  • Working knowledge of or ability to understand quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 or equivalent
  • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers
  • Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to sit and stand; walk; bend; use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and accurately without causing significant safety threat to self or others
