About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive adoption of open source standard methodologies across product teams
- Design governance models covering ownership, decision-making, and contributor pathways
- Grow active contribution from external contributors
- Provision and operate community infrastructure including Slack, community meetings, and collaboration spaces
- Develop and run 30/60/90-day post-launch plans for newly open source repositories
- Build isolated, contributor-safe CI for external pull requests
- Create the end-to-end contributor path from starter issue through contribution guide and automated review
- Implement PR quality-signal screening before maintainer review
- Monitor community health, engagement, events, and program metrics
- Turn readiness engagements into reusable playbooks
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Background driving adoption of open source practices across multiple engineering teams
- Experience crafting open source governance, contributor pathways, maintainer roles, and decision-making processes
- Strong software engineering skills
- Track record building CI checks, PR review tooling, and metrics pipelines
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor
- Experience running open source community programs, infrastructure, events, and contributor engagement
- Ownership of open source adoption and community management end to end
- Familiarity with open source repository patterns, including README structure, contribution documentation, governance files, and issue templates
- Direct experience contributing to or maintaining an open source project
- Experience building spam or low-quality-submission detection, anti-abuse, moderation, or automated triage systems
- Experience producing or running technical events
- Technical writing experience for external audiences
