About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive mechanical supplier and contract manufacturer (CEM) readiness so processes, tools, and fixtures realize mechanical design intent at high quality and yield
  • Work with the NVIDIA SPT mechanical team to understand critical-to-function requirements for systems and components
  • Perform detailed DFM and DFA analysis and provide solutions using industry best practices
  • Identify and lead efforts to solve problems affecting quality, yield, and manufacturability
  • Evaluate risks and apply corrective actions to optimize mechanical and system design manufacturability
  • Establish manufacturing specifications with mechanical suppliers and CEMs
  • Audit production-process implementation
  • Gather DFx feedback and investigate yield and quality issues
  • Study manufacturability and efficiency in production and repair-center activities to improve workflows
  • Evaluate assembly fixture and jig development, assembly specifications, process steps, and validation
  • Coordinate purchase of special equipment, materials, and parts to meet intended use, specifications, and quality standards
  • Recommend technology aids, product design changes, and workspace-layout modifications to improve quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with NVIDIA hardware engineering teams, component suppliers, and CEMs from conception through NPI and mass production
  • Spend most working time at factories and suppliers reviewing and improving manufacturing implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong mechanical product design and manufacturing background
  • Hands-on DFM/DFA experience and a track record of design optimization
  • Solid understanding of materials, metallurgy, plastics, solid mechanics, manufacturing processes, and product development
  • Server experience is a plus
  • Experience driving NPI and manufacturing process development across multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Practical knowledge of system assembly, system testing, tolerance analysis, and GD&T for complex assemblies
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies, mechanical testing and inspection methods, thermal considerations, and basic electrical principles
  • Proficiency with Creo or equivalent CAD software
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
