About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own a portfolio of client relationships from onboarding through engagement completion and renewal
  • Lead complex, high-stakes or first-of-kind engagements and serve as the escalation point for difficult methodology questions
  • Explain AI-generated work product to client finance teams and fund managers
  • Turn client patterns into product and process changes with priorities for engineering
  • Plan engagements by assessing risk, setting materiality and scoping procedures across diverse entities
  • Review verification and audit procedures and AI-generated workpapers; sign off before client or engagement-partner delivery
  • Make and document judgments on the sufficiency and appropriateness of evidence
  • Track AICPA auditing and attestation standards and firm quality management policies
  • Write and maintain audit methodology, work programs and quality review standards
  • Define accuracy requirements and design evaluations and test cases for reliable AI workflows
  • Build modules and prototypes using AI and technology tools
  • Decide when AI-assisted procedures are ready for client use
  • Build feedback loops so engagements improve the system
  • Mentor Accounting Engineers and raise the team's judgment standards
  • Help hire, interview and onboard team members
  • Grow the internal knowledge base

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6–10+ years of audit or assurance experience, including in-charge or manager-level responsibility for engagements
  • Active CPA license
  • Working knowledge of AICPA auditing standards (AU-C) and risk-based audit methodology
  • A track record of reviewing others' work and owning the final quality of an engagement
  • Experience applying audit expertise outside a traditional audit environment (industry, consulting, audit innovation or product roles)
  • Comfort with technology and AI tools, and the ability to explain precisely where an automated output is right or wrong
  • Excellent written communication; ability to document judgment calls so a reviewer or regulator can follow
  • Strong client presence; ability to lead difficult conversations with a CFO or fund manager
  • Preferred: audit experience in private funds, private companies, employee benefit plans, governments, nonprofits, or related standards
  • Preferred: hands-on experience building or testing AI or automation for audit or analytical work
  • Preferred: working knowledge of SQL, Python or similar data analytics tools
  • Preferred: experience writing firm methodology, work programs or quality management policies
  • Preferred: experience in a startup or fast-paced, unstructured environment
