About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and implement periodic checklists to assess the operation of essential store equipment, identifying issues, wear, and anomalies
  • Take immediate preventive or corrective action to ensure operational continuity and safety
  • Arrange the hiring of third-party contractors involved in store maintenance and oversee their work
  • Establish schedules and supervise services and repairs in accordance with established specifications and standards
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify fire hazards
  • Ensure the maintenance of fire prevention equipment
  • Conduct safety training, develop evacuation plans, ensure proper signage, and carry out fire drills
  • Coordinate the maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security, forklift, and generator systems
  • Diagnose problems, replace parts, make adjustments, and test systems and equipment
  • Oversee the preventive maintenance of elevators, generators, UPS systems, CCTV, and kitchen equipment
  • Keep water potability reports up to date through an accredited company

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Technical qualification in Electrical Maintenance, Building Construction, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related field
  • Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Experience in retail or wholesale maintenance
  • Ability to interpret electrical and plumbing schematics
  • Knowledge of technical and safety standards
