About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a senior individual contributor on OCC’s Automation Testing Framework engineering team
  • Design, develop and evolve the automation testing framework supporting critical risk technology systems
  • Own complex technical deliverables end to end and set engineering standards
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested Java code and lead debugging and root-cause analysis
  • Lead framework feature development and drive adoption through guidance, documentation and enablement
  • Lead code reviews and drive continuous improvement of the codebase and delivery practices
  • Integrate and act on findings from SonarQube, Snyk, Sysdig, Veracode and Black Duck
  • Improve CI/CD automation using Jenkins and containerized deployment with Docker, Harness and Rancher
  • Resolve complex framework issues and eliminate recurring problems at the source
  • Lead design discussions, proof of concept efforts and architectural decisions
  • Mentor and coach Associates and other engineers
  • Collaborate with business, technical and non-technical professionals in an agile environment
  • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation and roadmap discussions
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance without formal direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems, including distributed systems and backend microservice development
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Kafka Streaming and message queues
  • Strong experience in API development, SQL databases, and data storage such as S3
  • Strong working knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps tools, Git, and test automation frameworks
  • Deep understanding of OOP, microservices architecture, REST APIs, and Java 8+ features
  • Experience leading work within Agile delivery models
  • Advanced Java programming expertise including object-oriented design, concurrency and multithreading, performance tuning, and Spring Boot
  • Strong working knowledge of Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, partitioning and delivery semantics
  • Experience with Protobuf or Avro and schema governance patterns
  • Hands-on AWS experience, especially S3
  • Ability to write and optimize analytical SQL queries for relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Proficient with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar platforms
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field required
  • Ability to mentor others and collaborate in an agile environment
