About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead delivery of fire strategies, fire risk assessments, and design-stage consultancy services
- Develop fire safety strategies, reports, technical notes, and sketches while ensuring compliance with fire regulations
- Lead or contribute to design reviews, assess fire safety risks, and propose practical, effective solutions
- Conduct fire engineering analysis, including smoke and evacuation modelling, temperature spread calculations, and structural assessments
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and statutory authorities to align fire safety measures with project requirements
- Use advanced computer modelling software for fire dynamics assessments and simulations
- Support development of Occam Group Ltd’s Fire Engineering and Assessment service
- Support development of junior staff and Fire Assessor associates on existing projects
- Work on safety-critical Critical National Infrastructure such as submarines, power stations, and explosives facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- A degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Technologies or a related discipline
- Experience conducting fire risk assessments and developing fire strategies
- Experience working in safety-critical environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clients, design teams, and regulatory bodies
- Consultancy experience
- Hands-on proficiency with fire modelling tools
- Knowledge of Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR)
- Experience in critical national infrastructure environments
- Must be a sole UK national in order to apply
- Required to undergo pre-employment screening and satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting
