Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and deliver diverse high-profile projects, from small scoping and feasibility studies for site upgrades to complex process designs across Civil Nuclear, Defence Facilities and Energy Storage Systems
Manage multidisciplinary engineering interfaces
Deliver control and safety system designs
Lead technical project teams to ensure safety-critical standards are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality
Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from concept design to commissioning
Manage project teams, timelines and budgets
Lead or support the specification, design and assessment of control, instrumentation and safety systems within safety-critical environments
Drive innovation projects, transitioning new systems and technologies from early concept through to formal acceptance
Produce, review, verify and approve technical reports, specifications and detailed engineering design documentation
Manage client relationships to define requirements and negotiate technical scope
Manage project risks and deliver progress reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need

MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience/qualification)
Strong practical knowledge of process control systems
Deep familiarity with EC&I documentation (SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, schematics)
Experience applying hazard analysis and risk assessment techniques, including HAZOP, LOPA, SIL determination, FMEA, FTA and related safety assessment methods
Demonstrable experience leading safety-critical solutions aligned with standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, DO-178, or DO-254
Experience working under ISO 9001 quality standards
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience delivering work within regulated or safety-critical sectors
Strong client-facing and report-writing skills
UK national in order to apply
Must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting
Pre-employment screening required
Experience within the Nuclear sector (desirable)
Formal Functional Safety accreditation, e.g. TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (desirable)
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (desirable)
Familiarity with software development lifecycles and software languages, e.g. C/C++ (desirable)
Familiarity with change control and defect tracking processes (desirable)
SC and/or DV security clearance (desirable)
