About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead product strategy and execution for Capira, OCLC's public library discovery and engagement platform
  • Drive enhancements for digital experiences including resource discovery, account management, and community engagement
  • Balance customer needs, market trends, and business priorities to advance Capira's roadmap
  • Produce product strategy, roadmaps, annual product plans, business cases, monthly product reviews, launch plans, white papers, product presentations, market messaging, event support, competitive write-ups, and user personas
  • Contribute to portfolio business plans, strategies, roadmaps, metrics, operational plans, progress plans, reviews, user requirements, and functional specifications
  • Oversee market analysis and develop product strategy, business cases, and strategic product goals
  • Collaborate with Development on release plans
  • Collaborate with Finance on product budgets and forecasts
  • Develop pricing strategies and product positioning plans
  • Lead cross-functional product workgroups and Product Management meetings
  • Resolve conflicts, drive consensus, facilitate collaboration, and secure commitment across teams
  • Develop and monitor progress on the product roadmap
  • Assist with customer acquisition and retention strategies and manage user-group relationships
  • Support sales-team marketing and awareness plans, including training, support, and significant sales calls
  • Commission and use market research to assess markets, alternative services, technologies, and standards
  • Generate market-size and market-penetration information by sector or territory
  • Analyze product wins and losses against competition to inform product planning
  • Define and rationalize user personas
  • Produce market and sector white papers
  • Provide input into portfolio planning, strategies, metrics, progress reports, and reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 to 4 years experience in library services or library management systems
  • 2 to 4 years experience in product, project or program management
  • 2 to 4 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field
  • Well developed communication and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model
  • Demonstrated ability with financial planning and financial forecasting
  • Experience in managing staff or team leadership (desired but not required)
  • Experience leading cross-functional workgroups (desired but not required)
  • Knowledge of OCLC products and services (desired but not required)
