About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead key areas of online safety policy development as a subject matter expert in child sexual abuse and exploitation
- Support policy development, compliance activity, and effective work with partners and stakeholders
- Develop robust policy using knowledge of the CSEA threat and wider technical landscape
- Support Supervision and Enforcement teams in driving compliance with CSEA measures in Codes of Practice, particularly online grooming
- Identify, research, and analyse trends and developments in online child sexual abuse
- Work across Ofcom on implementation of the government’s under-16s social media ban and its impact on the CSEA threat
- Monitor technological developments affecting the fight against online child sexual abuse material
- Build relationships with Ofcom teams, including supervision, legal, technology, and economics colleagues
- Build relationships with charitable-sector stakeholders and relevant Government Departments
- Prioritise workload against strategic priorities
- Produce clear, concise documents for internal consideration and external publication
- Potentially manage Associates in the CSA team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience leading or contributing to regulatory policy development
- Experience with evidence gathering, stakeholder engagement, analysis of complex information, drafting policy proposals or recommendations, and presenting clear, evidence-based advice to senior decision-makers
- Experience in policy development and subject matter expertise in child online safety, safeguarding, or tackling child sexual abuse and exploitation as it manifests online
- Understanding of how the latest technological developments impact the proliferation, spread, and distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation online
- Knowledge of the CSEA threat and wider technical landscape
- Understanding of risks associated with end-to-end encrypted services
- Ability to identify, research, and gather information and analysis about trends and developments in online child sexual abuse
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to deliver clear, concise, and focused documents for internal consideration and external publication
- Ability to undergo National Security Vetting to Security Clearance (SC) level
- Willingness and ability to work with distressing content, material, and themes
