About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Proactive Money Laundering Team within the Regional Economic Crime Unit
- Complete financial investigations during operation development, execution and post-enforcement phases
- Target the interception and recovery of cash and other assets gained through criminality
- Search, seize and detain cash using investigative tools
- Prepare applications for warrants and orders to prevent criminals profiting from proceeds of crime
- Gather, record and sanitise financial intelligence for ongoing investigations
- Interrogate specialist databases, networks and online tools, including investigating suspicious activity reports
- Support development of financial investigation plans
- Develop intelligence packages for financial and other investigations using specialist gateways and external agencies
- Interview witnesses and suspects to obtain financial intelligence
- Produce criminal files and court files to support prosecutions
- Prepare material on money laundering and financial dealings for disclosure, liaising with crown prosecutors when necessary
- Uphold the Police Code of Ethics and reinforce force values and behavioural expectations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced Financial Investigator
- Knowledge and application of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996
- Knowledge and application of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and associated legislation
- Ability to use investigative tools and specialist databases
- Ability to search, seize and detain cash
- Ability to prepare applications for warrants and orders
- Ability to gather, record and sanitise financial intelligence
- Ability to investigate suspicious activity reports (SARs)
- Ability to develop financial investigation plans and intelligence packages
- Ability to interview witnesses and suspects
- Ability to produce criminal files and court files
- Ability to prepare disclosure material
- Successful completion of required Management vetting and Security clearance
- Successful completion of medical checks
- Provision of at least five years of employment, education or other relevant activity history for reference checks
