About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead day-to-day accounting operations and develop the Staff Accountant
Review and approve Accounting Analyst work, including AP processing, cash reconciliations, and journal entries
Prepare and review complex journal entries, including stock-based compensation, ASC 842 lease accounting, and cost/expense allocations
Design and build inventory and manufacturing accounting processes from the ground up
Design inventory accounting and costing across the full production chain, from plant material through shipment to farmer customers
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and ensure accurate, complete, timely financial statements
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and flux analyses
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies; support external auditors
Lead process improvement and automation initiatives using AI tools and systems including NetSuite, Ramp, and Zip
Partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams on accruals, allocations, and reporting
Mentor the Accounting Analyst as the team grows
Oversee the travel and expense program, refine expense policy, and audit transactions and card activity for compliance, coding accuracy, and fraud risk
Report to the Controller

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong working knowledge of NetSuite, Ramp, and Zip (or a similar procurement/AP automation platform)
Deep understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts
Self-starter and first-principles thinker comfortable building process from scratch and digging into root cause rather than symptoms
No visa sponsorship is available for this position at this time
Preferred: Big 4 or public accounting experience
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Preferred: Experience with manufacturing and/or inventory accounting
Preferred: Track record of using AI tools and process automation to change how accounting work gets done
