About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide comprehensive genetic counseling, including evaluating patient and family histories to assess genetic risk
- Coordinate, order, and interpret genetic testing and communicate results to patients, families, and providers
- Deliver patient-centered education and guidance on diagnoses, risk factors, and care options
- Support ongoing patient care through follow-up, referrals, and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Assist with care coordination, scheduling, and continuity of care across multiple providers
- Contribute to fetal therapy program coordination through patient education and support
- Maintain accurate documentation and respond to patient and provider inquiries
- Ensure compliance with licensure, training, and organizational standards
- Support a high-quality patient experience through professionalism, empathy, and communication
- Assist with administrative responsibilities, including supply coordination and maintaining required credentials
- Provide education, training, and guidance to residents, MFM fellows, genetic counseling graduate students, and healthcare team members
- Coordinate clinical and/or research activities within the area of expertise
- Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited genetic counseling training program
- Must be board certified
- Must be licensed to practice in the state of Ohio
- Prior clinical genetic counseling experience preferred
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs
- Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive material
- Meticulous attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials
- Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills for handling sensitive and confidential situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
