About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete online coursework and hands-on training at OSUP
- Gain real-world experience in patient care and clinical skills
- Prepare for and take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
- Collect initial patient data, vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint
- Record symptoms, treatments, reactions, and patient-condition changes in electronic medical records
- Set up equipment and prepare exam rooms
- Prepare patients and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Clean, maintain, and turn over patient rooms and workspaces
- Sterilize equipment, instruments, and medical areas
- Monitor and restock supplies and medications
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations
- Assist with check-in, check-out, scheduling, referrals, follow-ups, and clerical duties
- Conduct pre-visit reminder calls
- Assist providers with real-time medical-chart documentation
- Perform medication-related tasks within scope of practice
- Complete point-of-care testing as ordered
- Provide basic patient care, including wound dressing, suture removal, phlebotomy, venipuncture, injections, EKGs, and vital signs
- Assist providers with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures
- Provide after-visit summaries and related patient communications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Interest in a healthcare career
- Commitment to a paid full-time apprenticeship
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Eagerness to learn in a hands-on environment
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- English proficiency
- Eligibility requirements for the CCMA certification exam
- Open availability Monday–Friday between 7:30am and 5:30pm
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
