About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with direct patient care
- Perform routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
- Assist medical and/or nursing staff in examining and treating patients
- Room patients and measure and record height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
- Complete patient interviews and histories
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures
- Assist with examinations, treatments, and special tests as ordered by the physician
- Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
- Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
- Manage and organize the medical office inbox
- Oversee reception of incoming patient information and gather necessary data for healthcare providers
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one of the following: a diploma from a Medical Assistant Program; minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience; Military Medic training; EMT-P (Paramedic) training; or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- Ability to assist with direct patient care and routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
- Ability to measure and record vital signs
- Ability to complete patient interviews and histories
- Ability to prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments
- Ability to collect blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
- Ability to manage and organize a medical office inbox and handle patient information accurately
