About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with direct patient care and perform routine specialized medical procedures
- Assist medical and/or nursing staff in examination and treatment of patients
- Room patients and measure and record vital signs
- Complete patient interviews and histories
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures
- Assist with physician-ordered procedures, examinations, treatments, and special tests
- Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
- Collect patient blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
- Manage and organize the medical office inbox
- Oversee reception of incoming patient information and gather necessary data for healthcare providers
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A diploma from a Medical Assistant Program, or minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience, or Military Medic training, or EMT-P (Paramedic) training, or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- Ability to perform routine medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
- Ability to assist medical and/or nursing staff in patient examination and treatment
- Ability to measure and record vital signs
- Ability to complete patient interviews and histories
- Ability to prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments
- Ability to collect blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
- Ability to manage and organize a medical office inbox and patient information
