About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with direct patient care
  • Perform specialized routine medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
  • Assist medical and/or nursing staff during patient examinations and treatment
  • Room patients and measure and record height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
  • Complete patient interviews and histories
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments and explain procedures
  • Assist with physician-ordered procedures, examinations, treatments, and special tests
  • Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
  • Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples
  • Perform routine laboratory tests on patient samples

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One of the following: diploma from a Medical Assistant Program; minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience; Military Medic training; EMT-P (Paramedic) training; or equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • On-site work
  • Ability to perform routine medical procedures according to established clinical protocols
  • Ability to assist medical and/or nursing staff in patient examination and treatment
  • Ability to collect blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
