Intermediate Consultant, Geochemist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate on design work and project scopes with multidisciplinary geoscience, geotechnical, mine planning, and hydrological teams
- Prepare technical documentation and reports for geochemistry-related projects
- Plan and execute technical tasks of moderate scope and complexity, including work plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Evaluate geochemical risks using knowledge of metal leaching and acid rock drainage processes
- Develop practical mine waste management, closure, and reclamation solutions
- Develop conceptual site models to predict mine waste geochemical performance and water quality
- Interpret static and kinetic test results and integrate findings into predictive geochemical models
- Support development and calibration of geochemical and reactive transport models
- Perform advanced data analysis, interpretation, and visualization
- Prepare technical scopes of work, contribute to proposals, and support cost estimate preparation
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and work direction to junior staff, technologists, and contractors
- Foster client relationships, identify additional service opportunities, and support business development
- Develop and implement geochemical and physical sampling and analytical programs
- Conduct field investigations and collect mine waste samples
- Assist with laboratory testing programs and update databases
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate bachelor’s degree or post-graduate degree in geochemistry, earth sciences, environmental science, engineering geology, or soil science
- Registered professional (P.Geo., P.Eng., or equivalent) in a Canadian jurisdiction, or immediately eligible for registration
- Knowledge and experience using geochemical modelling software such as PHREEQC, MIN3P, or Geochemist’s Workbench
- Approximately 5+ years of relevant consulting, mining, or applied geochemistry experience
- Experience with reactive transport modelling is an asset
- Comfortable presenting at applicable technical conferences is an asset
- Genuine interest in environmental sustainability and commitment to mitigating mining’s environmental impacts
