About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work closely with mining clients and technical teams on projects across diverse sites
- Develop practical environmental solutions for mine planning and closure
- Participate in critical thinking processes and evaluate and recommend solutions
- Complete hazard assessments and other HSE project requirements
- Follow internal procedures and policies, participate in safety training, and promote a safety culture
- Conduct background reviews supporting conceptual models
- Contribute to mine closure plans, cover system design, and construction support for field trials
- Collaborate with geotechnical, geoscience, hydrology, and geochemistry teams
- Help design mine and tailings plans using multiple software packages
- Learn to prepare project cost estimates
- Assist with technical documentation, proposals, and technical reports
- Build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Assist with planning and conducting site visits and field investigations, including material sampling programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Earth Sciences, or equivalent
- Basic understanding of mining process, lifecycle, and mine closure concepts
- Experience in an operating mine is a bonus, but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with industry-related design and scheduling software
- Ability and availability to travel to sites when needed
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work flexibly across time zones and travel from time to time
- Ability to adapt and prioritise when navigating unexpected challenges
- Ability to integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into work
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients
- Ability to engage in business development initiatives
