About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the planning and design of electrical systems for federal facilities and infrastructure projects
  • Assist in designing power distribution, lighting, grounding, communications, and life safety systems
  • Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under licensed engineers’ guidance
  • Apply electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Use Revit, AutoCAD, and other electrical modeling and analysis tools
  • Assist with project schedules, design coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Research federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges
  • Create and maintain project information in project management systems
  • Travel to project sites and federal installations for design development, construction, and coordination activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in Power (preferred)
  • Minimum of one year of engineering experience, internship experience, or equivalent academic project experience (preferred)
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles related to building and facility systems
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, AGi32, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical building systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to travel and perform occasional field work as required
