About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the planning and design of electrical systems for federal facilities and infrastructure projects
- Assist in designing power distribution, lighting, grounding, communications, and life safety systems
- Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under licensed engineers’ guidance
- Apply electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Use Revit, AutoCAD, and other electrical modeling and analysis tools
- Assist with project schedules, design coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Research federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges
- Create and maintain project information in project management systems
- Travel to project sites and federal installations as needed for design development, construction, and coordination
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power (preferred, not required)
- Minimum of one year of engineering experience, internship experience, or equivalent academic project experience (preferred)
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe (preferred)
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles related to building and facility systems
- Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, AGi32, or similar tools
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical building systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Willingness to travel and perform occasional field work as required
