About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate, design, and document electrical systems for small to large-scale federal projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related building systems
  • Apply electrical engineering techniques, methods, and procedures to develop constructible, code-compliant designs
  • Prepare electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate project documents and track project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate electrical design elements with other engineering disciplines and internal project teams
  • Communicate project development and progress with project managers
  • Participate in coordination with federal clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Perform process design calculations and analyze engineering data
  • Support feasibility evaluations for proposed electrical systems
  • Maintain project information and documentation in project management systems
  • Diagnose and help resolve technical design issues
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced engineers or technical staff as assigned
  • Travel to project sites and participate in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering conferences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders
  • Solid problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, federal standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to research and apply electrical requirements as needed
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical abilities related to electrical engineering design
  • Working knowledge of design tools and technologies such as AutoCAD and Revit
  • Ability to travel and participate in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering conferences
  • Ability to travel to project sites and work in varying terrain and weather conditions
