About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide part-time technical support for a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study supporting Industrial Builders
- Provide independent technical guidance on nuclear safety and quality assurance considerations affecting secondary-system design
- Attend FEED study project meetings as requested
- Participate in technical, design, and project review meetings
- Review preliminary design information and customer deliverables
- Advise customers and project stakeholders on nuclear safety and quality assurance issues
- Identify nuclear safety, quality, regulatory, and compliance risks
- Independently review the customer’s NQA-1 compliance approach
- Evaluate gaps between current practices and applicable NQA-1 expectations
- Develop recommendations and a practical roadmap for achieving or strengthening NQA-1 compliance
- Guide application of nuclear quality assurance requirements during FEED and subsequent design phases
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, quality assurance, and nuclear safety personnel
- Document technical observations, conclusions, risks, and recommended actions
- Provide additional nuclear safety or quality assurance support when authorized
- Perform work in accordance with Omega policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and industry requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Extensive professional experience supporting nuclear facilities, reactor projects, or other highly regulated nuclear programs
- Demonstrated experience in nuclear safety and quality assurance
- Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 requirements and their application to nuclear design, engineering, procurement, construction, or operations
- Experience reviewing engineering designs, technical deliverables, quality assurance programs, or compliance strategies
- Ability to identify nuclear safety and quality concerns affecting system design and project execution
- Ability to provide independent, objective, and defensible technical recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with customers, engineering teams, project leadership, and technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently within a limited, task-order-based scope
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and virtual meeting platforms
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to satisfy applicable customer and site-access requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, nuclear engineering, quality assurance, physical science, or a related technical discipline is preferred
- Equivalent specialized nuclear-industry education, training, certifications, and extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Preferred: experience supporting Idaho National Laboratory; reactor or advanced-reactor design and deployment; FEED studies or early-stage nuclear design reviews; developing or assessing an NQA-1 compliance program; Department of Energy nuclear safety and quality assurance requirements; integrating safety and quality requirements into system design; senior technical advisor or subject matter expert experience
