About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Answer incoming calls on the educational support line
- Listen to callers and closely follow written scripts, FAQs, and resource documents
- Maintain disease knowledge and sensitivity to patient and caregiver experiences
- Apply patient privacy laws and procedures when handling PII and PHI
- Collaborate with other departments and keep them informed of call totals and issues
- Participate in ongoing training and monitoring
- Communicate professionally with managers, clients, customers, mentors, and the general public
- Anticipate and resolve hurdles quickly and efficiently
- Read and comprehend pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry materials
- Report directly to the Team Lead
- Perform additional duties consistent with the role based on business needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Medical background preferred
- Basic computer skills, including database data entry
- Previous experience with patient communication
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of call center operation and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Fluency in Spanish highly desired
- Ability to understand patient privacy laws, including HIPAA
- Ability to read and comprehend pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry documents, medical education, medical periodicals, clinical trial data, package inserts, medical procedures, and industry regulations
- Ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment
- Organizational, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, critical-thinking, adaptability, attention-to-detail, time-management, and leadership skills
- Ability to work varied evening and weekend shifts
- Ability to successfully complete and adhere to required privacy, data security, HIPAA, adverse event reporting, pharmaceutical promotional, and regulatory training
- Ability to work in the office a minimum of three days per week under Omnicom policy, unless additional in-office days are directed
