About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead steady-state hydraulic modeling for existing assets and potential expansion projects with minimal supervision
- Make and implement recommendations related to system capacity, operating costs, and system operation
- Build, maintain, and validate system models for complex analysis
- Collect and analyze data to identify business and pipeline optimization opportunities
- Recommend and implement processes and ideas to improve hydraulic modeling efficiency and accuracy
- Support planning of field operations projects and activities, including maintenance outage plans
- Engage with project teams through evaluation, implementation, and adoption to ensure expected value is achieved and retained
- Work with leadership at all levels to align current and future optimization strategies
- Report on assigned projects through project management tools or other documents as required
- May occasionally work outdoors at field sites
- Travel to other company locations as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field or 5-10 years of applicable experience with natural gas pipeline systems
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering and pipeline design/operation, preferably with a hydraulic focus
- Experience and knowledge of engineering design and criteria for pipeline systems
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software including or similar to SPS, Fathom, Synergi Gas, ProMax, VMG Sim, etc.
- Experience and knowledge of compressor stations and Ariel performance program preferred
- Experience with BI/analytical tools such as PI, Spotfire, etc. preferred
- Experience identifying, researching, understanding, evaluating, and prioritizing problems and coordinating appropriate action/response
- Experience with and knowledge of pipeline hydraulics and operations
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling concepts, software, and tools
- Ability to apply math, algebraic formulas, hydraulic equations, affinity laws, and statistical methods for detailed analysis
- Knowledge of pipeline operations and commercial functions with ability to understand and analyze business impacts
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering design and calculation issues
- Ability to interpret governmental regulations including DOT 195 and/or 192, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, reports, and correspondence
- Ability to plan and organize projects to completion
- Ability to lead groups effectively
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments with competing deadlines
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions
- Ability to collaborate with teams and communicate effectively
- None required for licenses and certifications
- Applicable driver's license may be required if assigned a company vehicle
- Ability to travel to other company locations
