About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure required to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making
- Analyze data sources, define ETL/ELT integration logic, and apply recommended design patterns
- Develop high-performance data flows in Microsoft Fabric and structure data using appropriate models
- Implement data quality controls and contribute to unit and integration testing
- Ensure the integration, security, and confidentiality of clinical and administrative data
- Manage code, traceability, and deployments using Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Document solutions, share knowledge, and support the operationalization of data products
- Collaborate with architecture, security, operations, and stakeholder teams
- Define data integration and interoperability strategies across source systems, Microsoft Fabric, and analytics products
- Design event-driven and metadata-driven integration patterns, as well as batch and near-real-time processing mechanisms
- Define rules for data flow, transformation, traceability, reconciliation, and error handling
- Design mechanisms for technical governance, classification, lineage, and access control
- Ensure solutions align with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD standards
- Produce flow models, data contracts, technical decisions, standards, and integration templates
- Analyze dependencies among clinical and administrative sources and recommend approaches for sustainable integration
- Review solutions proposed by development teams and ensure end-to-end consistency
- Assess performance, resilience, scalability, and operationalization challenges
- Support teams in implementing strategic directions and resolving complex technical issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proficiency in spoken and written French
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, management, or a related field
- A MIFI equivalency assessment is required for any degree obtained outside Quebec
- A specialized certification issued by a competent and recognized authority in the information technology field
- Five (5) years of experience in data engineering
- More than four (4) years of experience in business intelligence, including three (3) years in data engineering within Quebec’s healthcare network
- One (1) year of experience with Fabric or Databricks
- Demonstrated active participation in at least two (2) mandates involving the development of analytics solutions integrating provincial clinical information systems and healthcare facilities
- Tools and languages: Git/GitHub, SQL, Python, Power BI
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Direct Lake, pipelines, notebooks) and Spark environments
- Proficiency in T-SQL, DAX, and JSON formats
- Knowledge of Azure tools/platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake Gen2, Data Factory) and governance/metadata tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview)
