About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure required to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making
  • Analyze data sources, define integration logic (ETL/ELT), and apply recommended design patterns
  • Develop high-performance workflows in Microsoft Fabric and structure data using appropriate models
  • Implement data quality controls and contribute to unit and integration testing
  • Ensure the integration, security, and confidentiality of clinical and administrative data
  • Manage code, traceability, and deployments using Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices
  • Document solutions, share knowledge, and support the operationalization of data products
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, operations, and stakeholder teams
  • Define data integration and interoperability strategies across source systems, Microsoft Fabric, and analytics products
  • Design event-driven and metadata-driven integration patterns, as well as batch and near-real-time processing mechanisms
  • Define rules for data movement, transformation, traceability, reconciliation, and error handling
  • Design technical governance, classification, lineage, and access-control mechanisms
  • Ensure solutions align with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD standards
  • Produce flow models, data contracts, technical decisions, standards, and integration templates
  • Analyze dependencies between clinical and administrative sources and recommend approaches for sustainable integration
  • Review solutions proposed by development teams and ensure end-to-end consistency
  • Assess performance, resilience, scalability, and operationalization requirements
  • Support teams in implementing strategic directions and resolving complex technical issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fluency in spoken and written French
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, management, or a related field
  • MIFI equivalency is required for any diploma or degree obtained outside Quebec
  • Hold a specialized certification issued by a competent and recognized authority in the field of information technology
  • Five (5) years of experience in data engineering
  • More than four (4) years of experience in business intelligence, including three (3) years in data engineering within Quebec’s healthcare network
  • One (1) year of experience with Fabric or Databricks
  • Demonstrated active participation in at least two (2) mandates involving the development of analytics solutions integrating provincial clinical information systems and healthcare facilities (e.g., Clinibase, SIURGE, Med-urge, BDCU, MED-ECHO, Opera, SIMASS, SILP)
  • Tools and languages: Git/GitHub, SQL, Python, Power BI
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Direct Lake, pipelines, notebooks) and Spark environments
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, DAX, and JSON formats
  • Knowledge of Azure tools/platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake Gen2, Data Factory) and governance/metadata tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview)
