About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build the backend and integrations to the architect's design, including the HIPAA-AWS foundation using infrastructure-as-code
Implement the clearinghouse eligibility integration: build the EDI 270 request, call the REST API, and parse the 271 response
Build the check engine with scheduler/SQS-driven daily eligibility sweeps, pending-enrollment polling, and countdown logic
Build and maintain the encrypted coverage data store and alerting
Own integration-path testing end-to-end
Work heads-down with daily standups, delivering to the contract consumed by the front-end/automation engineer
Own the integration layer and check engine end-to-end on a production healthcare platform

Requirements

What you’ll need

Senior backend engineering experience (5+ years)
Strong in Python or Node.js/TypeScript
PostgreSQL and REST API design
Solid working AWS experience: Fargate/ECS, SQS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch
Able to execute infrastructure-as-code designed by an architect
Strong experience integrating third-party APIs and handling messy external data
Healthcare EDI (ANSI 270/271) or clearinghouse integration experience is nice to have
Event-driven / queue-based pipeline experience is nice to have
HIPAA / PHI handling experience is nice to have
Terraform or AWS CDK is nice to have
