Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and benchmark novel agent architectures, reasoning strategies, and tool-use patterns for scientific research workflows
  • Prototype agentic capabilities across drug discovery, clinical development, and translational science
  • Rapidly iterate to identify approaches delivering genuine scientific value
  • Partner with therapeutic-area researchers to identify high-impact research problems
  • Translate domain expertise into concrete agent designs and experimental tool integrations
  • Publish findings through peer-reviewed papers, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing
  • Establish patterns and reference implementations for moving successful innovations from experimentation into broader platforms
  • Define criteria for production readiness without owning ongoing operations
  • Contribute as an individual contributor and developing subject-matter expert in Data Science
  • Develop actionable insights, methods, and research for the internal Data Science community
  • Contribute to scientific projects, programs, and processes important to the Data Science function

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience designing, building, and evaluating AI/ML systems or scientific software
  • Track record of moving from research prototype to demonstrated impact
  • Strong proficiency in Python and scientific computing
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, experimental design, and rigorous evaluation of AI capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with LLM-based systems and frameworks such as LangChain and LangFuse
  • Experience with agent orchestration, tool-calling, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, and/or evaluation frameworks
  • Ability to work independently and within distributed developer teams using agile programming methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate across therapeutic-area scientists, data scientists, and engineers
  • Work authorization or other requirements applicable under U.S. federal, state, or local law
