About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and support regional planning, design, implementation and evaluation of initiatives advancing health equity, priority populations, integration, engagement and East Region priorities
  • Develop regional structures, processes and performance measures supporting implementation, monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to identify system barriers, gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Support innovative, integrated programs that help communities access appropriate care and services
  • Promote evidence-informed decision-making, health equity principles and alignment with provincial and regional strategies
  • Represent the region at local, regional and provincial tables concerning planning, coordination, best practices and funding priorities
  • Provide leadership, guidance and day-to-day management to staff and assigned program areas
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on regional activities using data and analysis
  • Maintain awareness of health system issues and change initiatives related to business planning priorities and key result areas
  • Work closely with the Director, Planning and Implementation to shape, implement and evaluate regional strategies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health administration, public administration or a related field with relevant experience is required
  • 7 years of progressive healthcare experience is required
  • Solid background leading staff and overseeing day-to-day operational activities
  • Experience integrating large, complex initiatives in a changing environment
  • Expertise in operational and program delivery
  • Strong business acumen and ability to engage key system partners
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining healthcare-sector and provincial-government relationships and partnerships
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, including creativity, innovation, integrity, initiative and passion
  • Ability to work independently and align with executive leadership direction
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations on technical and/or sensitive information
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with advanced project management skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and negotiate consensus around complex policy strategies
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial management, human resource management, organizational dynamics, governance, strategic planning, risk management and quality improvement in healthcare
  • Stakeholder engagement, relationship management and political acuity
  • Risk management and performance measurement skills
  • Strategic planning and change management skills
  • System design, healthcare planning and program development knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Ontario health sector, workforce trends, local health issues and healthcare policy
  • Knowledge of the community-based sector, including mental health, addictions and substance use health
  • Knowledge of the needs of Indigenous urban and community populations and Francophone communities
  • Expert knowledge of planning models and approaches
  • French language proficiency is an asset
