About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop advanced algorithms for Onto’s inspection systems
- Apply machine learning, image processing, computer vision, mathematics, optics, and software engineering to algorithms integrated into inspection platforms
- Work directly with customers onsite to identify performance improvement opportunities
- Lead implementation of solutions that enhance system capabilities
- Independently implement and validate algorithms based on real-world system behavior
- Bring forward creative ideas and develop production code
- Support as needed
- Provide recommendations to the hardware group on image quality and error budget based on algorithm design and performance
- Report directly to the engineering team at Onto Innovation
- Travel 75%, including 65% in Korea and 10% international travel
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD or MS or Bachelor in EE, Computer Science, Applied Math or related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience
- Proficiency in at least one numerically oriented programming environment such as Python or MATLAB
- Experience using native libraries for linear algebra, image processing, and machine learning
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience deploying machine learning algorithms into real world production environments
- Ability to independently implement and validate algorithms based on real-world system behavior
- Ability to work independently and provide recommendations to the hardware group on image quality and error budget based on algorithm design and performance
- Willingness/ability to travel 75%: 65% in Korea and 10% internationally
