About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop advanced algorithms for Onto Innovation’s inspection systems
- Apply machine learning, image processing, computer vision, mathematics, optics, and software engineering to algorithms integrated into inspection platforms
- Work directly with customers onsite to identify performance improvement opportunities
- Lead implementation of solutions that enhance system capabilities
- Independently implement and validate algorithms based on real-world system behavior
- Develop production code and provide support as needed
- Recommend image quality and error-budget improvements to the hardware group based on algorithm design and performance
- Report directly to the engineering team at Onto Innovation
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD, MS, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience
- Proficiency in at least one numerically oriented programming environment such as Python or MATLAB
- Experience using native libraries for linear algebra, image processing, and machine learning
- Ability to independently implement and validate algorithms based on real-world system behavior
- Demonstrated experience deploying machine learning algorithms into real-world production environments
- Skills in machine learning, image processing, computer vision, mathematics, optics, and software engineering
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness and ability to travel 75%, including 65% in Korea and 10% internationally
