About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in the modeling, control, and real-time simulation of power converters and power-system circuits using CPUs and FPGAs
- Maintain and develop MMC/VSC, HVDC, and FACTS libraries in MATLAB/Simulink and HYPERSIM
- Participate in all design, development, testing, packaging, and documentation phases for new OPAL-RT MMC/HVDC library features and solvers
- Work primarily with Simulink, SimPower Systems, Xilinx Blockset, RT-LAB, and HYPERSIM
- Design, model, control, and simulate customized power converters and power-system circuits
- Participate in client projects by modeling power-converter topologies and developing interfaces between controllers and converter simulators
- Research innovative product-development design options
- Write technical papers for conferences and journals
- Collaborate with team members to deliver complete and functional solutions
- Work under the supervision of the Team Leader in an agile environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or power systems
- Experience in the control and/or modeling of power-electronics systems and EMT simulations
- Knowledge of modeling and simulating power-electronics converters and their control systems
- Knowledge of power systems and EMT simulation
- Knowledge of FPGA programming
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
- French required
- Good English skills required for reading specialized and scientific materials and using specialized software
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, EMTP, RT-LAB, or HYPERSIM is an asset
- Knowledge of OPAL-RT simulation software is an asset
- Knowledge of HVDC and MMC is an asset
- Previous FPGA programming experience is an asset
- Previous Hardware-in-the-Loop or Rapid Control Prototyping experience is an asset
- Autonomy, versatility, curiosity, organization, interpersonal communication, analytical skills, and adaptability
