About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Propose and execute power electronic engineering and R&D projects
- Support technical, business development, and sales teams with specialized expertise in power electronics real-time simulation
- Mentor the technical team to raise skill levels in power electronics real-time simulation
- Provide feedback on and support pre-release testing and validation of OPAL-RT’s power electronics tools
- Write and present technical papers on power electronics simulation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering or a relevant field; master’s degree holders with 5+ years of academic/industrial research experience in power electronics would be considered
- At least 5 years of hands-on real-time simulation of power electronics
- Strong understanding of power electronic system simulation, including applications, modeling, and numerical methods
- Strong experience with power electronics simulation tools such as OPAL-RT’s eHS, PLECS, and SPS
- Understanding of FPGA implementation of numerical methods
- Strong experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and relevant toolboxes for power electronics simulation
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- German fluency preferred; French is a plus
- Ability to inspire confidence and gain buy-in through expertise and clear technical reasoning
- Strong problem-solving, design, and analytical skills
- Out-of-the-box thinking and ability to develop creative testing solutions under critical timelines
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient in writing process documentation
- Highly autonomous and proactive in identifying improvements
- Hardware and interfacing experience for hardware-in-the-loop testing of power electronic controllers is an asset
