About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in work planning and organization
  • Develop and maintain board drivers for OPAL-RT’s RT-LAB and HYPERSIM software
  • Define, implement, and validate new card drivers and communication protocols
  • Add features, improve performance, and fix potential issues in existing drivers
  • Integrate drivers into RT-LAB and HYPERSIM
  • Test card drivers
  • Write technical documentation
  • Update and maintain CPU–FPGA communication interfaces using C/C++
  • Develop and maintain communication protocols based on industrial standards using C/C++
  • Develop and maintain higher-level graphical configuration interfaces using C++/Java
  • Integrate low-level software drivers for third-party hardware using C/C++
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Provide customer support as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in C/C++ development
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Linux, and POSIX
  • French required
  • Good English skills for reading specialized and scientific books and software that is not available in French
  • Experience working in, or familiarity with, an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Experience with communication buses such as CAN, MIL-STD-1553, or ARINC 429 is an asset
  • Experience with communication protocols such as IEC 61850, C37.118, DNP3, or Modbus is an asset
  • Knowledge of real-time concepts, Git/GitLab, MATLAB/Simulink, Java, gdb, socket programming, multithreading, JIRA/Confluence, Python, shell scripting, FPGA programming concepts, and PCIe concepts is a significant asset
  • Strong organizational skills, rigor, determination, adaptability, autonomy, interpersonal skills, judgment, analytical abilities, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills
