About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Clean, maintain, and perform floor care functions throughout Opelousas General Health System premises
- Wax, strip, buff, burnish, scrub, auto-scrub, shampoo, bonnet, extract, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
- Clean patient care areas, ancillary areas, offices, restrooms, surgical areas, laboratories, imaging, pharmacy, respiratory areas, and other assigned spaces
- Pull trash and linen, sanitize high-touch surfaces, replenish supplies, and change linens in discharged patient rooms
- Operate and safely maintain automatic and mechanical floor-care equipment
- Use cleaning chemicals and supplies according to manufacturer, Environmental Services, and Infection Control direction
- Record completed work on daily Area Assignment Checklists and report concerns to Environmental Services supervisors
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs under direction
- Move furniture and set up tables and chairs for organizational functions
- Respond to Doctors Lift calls, Housekeeping pages, fires, and organizational codes
- Follow safety, risk-management, OSHA, infection-control, and regulatory procedures
- Participate in safety meetings, training, hazard assessments, and educational opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Floor tech experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies according to procedures
- Ability to follow hospital, OSHA, safety, infection-control, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to complete floor care and custodial duties across patient care, surgical, obstetric, laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, respiratory, office, restroom, and ancillary areas
- Ability to document completed work, report hazards, accidents, injuries, repairs, and unit concerns
- Ability to attend designated classroom and virtual training programs
